Cemex Battle Rages On

Mexican giant Cemex Corpoation filed a settlement with the county of Los Angeles on Monday....

While the terms of the agreement are not yet available, government officials oppsing the massive mining project are afraid that the county is selling out the city of Santa Clarita.  The settlement essentially puts the battle on hold, as the consent decree must be approved by a U.S. District Court judge in a hearing which is scheduled for March 15th.

The battle between the city of Santa Clarita and Cemex has been going on for years and has escalated in the last few months, as residents vocalize more opposition to Cemex and support for the city, and as the city garners support from county officials as well as state and federal figures.
