Bosom Buddies Bid For Charity
Hundreds milled about a room that was skirted by 100 bras up for auction — enough to support 200 breasts as well as breast cancer research.
The customized undergarments appealed to a wide range of tastes...
Some women enjoyed the lacy bras. Others liked the fuzzy ones. But the rare ladies who prefer twin plungers or soda cans were in luck at the inaugural “Bras for a Cause.”
Minimum bids for the bras bounced from a standard $20 to $1,800 for one adorned with collector Disney pins. The funds would be split two ways, between the Soroptimists’ breast cancer fund and the Sheila R. Veiloz Breast Imaging Center.
“I think it’s a very good idea,” said Tracy Gallegos, 34, of Valencia. “There are so many fund-raisers you can go to, so you need to find something unique and different.”
“And I can bring home some bras,” she said.
Valencia resident Eric Stroh, 40, examined a fuzzy, white bra with his wife, Jacque. He was among the outnumbered men at the event.
