Antonovich Welcomes LA-Palmdale Airport
First flights make their way to San Francisco
Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich and officials from the City of Palmdale, City of Los Angeles, and LAWA welcomed the first flight of United Airlines serving San Francisco from LA-Palmdale Airport.
“The future is now – and United Airlines’ service out of LA-Palmdale Airport is a big step in the development of a truly regional air transit system for Los Angeles County,” said Antonovich. “Our County can no longer rely solely on the Los Angeles International Airport to meet the air travel needs of 10 million County residents in 88 cities and 134 unincorporated communities.”
“A regional approach is the only rational way to deal with the more than 78 million new air passengers expected in Southern California by 2020,” added Antonovich.
Antonovich praised Untied Airlines for bringing a strong national presence to LA-Palmdale Airport. “Unlike the small-scale providers in the past, United Airlines will help LA-Palmdale expand as the future economic hub of the High Desert region – the fastest growing area in California,” said Antonovich.
