Antonovich Wants To Review Satellites

Interoperability communications called into question.

ImageWith the recent devastation caused by tornados in Kansas where emergency communication interoperability towers were destroyed, Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich has suggested that satellites are virtually unaffected by circumstances on the ground and may provide the Los Angeles County Sheriff more reliable communication than wires and poles that can be destroyed by fire, earthquakes and wind.

As the region’s chief law enforcement officer, the Los Angeles County Sheriff has the  primary responsibility, in the wake of a natural disaster or act of terror, to ensure effective coordination between first responders in the County, including municipal law enforcement in the County’s 88 cities, 134 incorporated communities and with State and federal authorities.
