Antonovich Supports Continued Emergency Storm Action

The Board of Supervisors has unanimously approved extension of the emergency declaration initiated by Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich to repair damaged roads and flood control facilities due to the winter rainstorms.

To repair damage to County roads, restore access to residents and businesses, and minimize the risk of additional flood damage from future storms, the County’s Department of Public Works has been aggressive in negotiating and executing contracts to perform these repairs.  Of the 138 total road closures as a result of the January storms, only 14 unincorporated County roads remain completely closed, with 12 remaining partially closed.  Removal of sediment from full debris basins and inlets and repairs to essential flood control facilities are also nearing completion.

Today’s motion also instructs the Executive Officer to place this item on the agenda for Board review every 14 days to determine the need to continue the local emergency while restoration actions are being taken.
