Another Battle Won in the Cemex War

On Tuesday, Senator Barbara Boxer kept her promise made last year to help scale back the Cemex mining project....

Senator Boxer introduced Senate Bill 2058 which, along with legislation introduced by Congressman "Buck" McKeon, would cancel certain leases from the Bureau of Land Management authorizing the extraction of sand and gravel in Soledad Canyon.  Additionally, the bill will prevent the future issuing of mining leases for sand and gravel that exceed the historical levels in the area.
