30 New Late-Start Classes Added to Fall 2005 Semester

Recently, College of the Canyons announced 30 more late-start classes for the fall 2005 semester.

These classes could be an option for students who missed the registration dates for classes that are already in session for the fall semester.

The 30 new classes, added just a few weeks ago, bring the total number of late-start classes being offered this semester to more than 130.

The majority of these classes will meet Oct. 10 to Dec. 1.

Art, chemistry, early childhood education, philosophy, photography, sociology and theater are among the courses that have been added.

"The classes that have been added to the schedule tend to be ones that meet general education requirements," said Nancy Smith, interim dean of instruction at College of the Canyons.  "Late-start classes are great for those who are looking to add other classes in order to get some more units out of the way."

The classes can be taken at a variety of locations throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.  Those wishing to register can choose from several convenient off-campus locations like the ACCESS center in Canyon Country and local high schools like Canyon, Valencia and Golden Valley.

And now, in the interest of time and accessibility, more and more students are choosing to take classes online, which is another option to consider when registering for classes.

"Whatever the scheduling circumstance, College of the Canyons is ready to meet needs and have classes available," Smith said.  "Most of the late-start classes begin in
October, but students should check the website for exact information."
