Condies Recognized At 20th Silver Spur Celebration
The College of the Canyons Foundation celebrated Gary and Myrna Condie as the recipients of the coveted "Silver Spur" Community Service Award last Saturday at the Autry National Center in Los Angeles. The Award, now in its twentieth year, offers recognition and thanks for community service efforts by its recipients.
Gary and Myrna Condie's generous and wide-ranging support for College of the Canyons has revolved around several key projects at the college, including the Performing Arts Center Endowment, the Early Childhood Education Center, the Foundation's Silver Spur event and the Boys and Girls Club At Risk Scholarship. In addition, Gary and Myrna have served as co-chairs of the Silver Spur committee for the past three years.
The Silver Spur Celebration was originally the brainchild of LaVerne Rosa Harris, a member of the COC Foundation Board of Directors who became the 1996 Silver Spur honoree. The very first gala was held at the Gene Autry Museum in 1989, with Cliffie Stone as the recipient. The Foundation Board of Directors at the time wanted to create a signature event for the COC Foundation and also to reflect the western heritage of the Santa Clarita Valley.

City Looking To Google Faster
Local residents are asked to make a 20-second video that explains, in whatever way you think is most convincing, what you would do with ultra-high speed bandwidth, the benefit to our community and why Santa Clarita would be the best place to try out this groundbreaking fiber project.
The Homeless Are Homeless Once Again
The Santa Clarita Valley Emergency Winter Shelter is winding down its operations for this "season," but as the doors close, those who have nowhere to go are left stranded.
For a number of the shelter's residents their new homes will be cars, tents, or if they're lucky a friendly couch.
Join City, KHTS For A Community Bike Ride
KHTS AM 1220 and our City invites residents to join Mayor Laurene Weste and the City Council for Hit the Trail on Saturday March 20, 2010.
KHTS City Council Election Endorsements

Election day is Tuesday, April 13th for our City Council elections. If our past is any indicator, less than 20% of the eligible Santa Clarita Valley registered voters will actually vote. It's an embarrassment. Our City Council, more than any other elected officials, directly impact our quality of life here in our Valley. It is our responsibility to become informed and vote.
