Chamber Vows To Find New Recruits
Major campaign underway to beef up business participants.

Draped in camouflage clothing and standing in front of a
Humvee military vehicle, the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce kicked
off a membership drive that aims to boost the ranks of the organization.
Already one of the largest Chambers in the state, the SCV
organization is calling upon each of its members to recruit at least one new
business.
“In planning this event, we asked the question ‘who best to
convince someone to join the Chamber of Commerce?’” said Charlie Gill, who
chairs the Chamber’s board of directors. “The answer is, obviously our current members
who have benefited from their membership.”

When it comes to the military theme, Gill says that’s no coincidence.
“To be honest, we’re sort of like the military; you know,
when the going gets tough the tough get going.”
Gill went on to explain that the Chamber works to provide
support to businesses that can be utilized during tough economic times.
The Chamber’s other big job is to represent the Santa Clarita
business climate in local, state and federal legislative processes.
