Food Drive for Help the Children of Santa Clarita

Date: April 15, 2013 - 1:45 pm
Time: 1:45 pm  to

As part of its ongoing commitment to local communities, H&R Block is holding a food drive to benefit Help the Children of Santa Clarita. From January 28 through April 15, clients, neighbors and the wider community are invited to bring non-perishable food items to any of the 21 H&R Block offices (including inside Wal-Mart) in the Santa Clarita Valley. In addition, each time a client makes a monetary donation to Help the Children, H&R Block will make a $20 donation.

“At H&R Block, we put a premium on being a good corporate citizen. We’re proud of the rich philanthropic tradition established by our founders, Henry and Richard Bloch, and work to honor their legacies through our ongoing philanthropic endeavors,” says Julie Garcia, district manager for H&R Block. “Help the Children is part of our Nonprofit Referral program to support local communities. This program has accounted for more than $1.6 million donated to nonprofit organizations since 2009, including approximately $550,000 in 2012.”

“Help the Children distributes food to churches, senior citizen facilities, battered women shelters, recovery programs, and other service providers enrolled as recipients of our food program in the Santa Clarita Valley. These groups, in turn, hand out donated food to those in need,” says Roger Presgrove, president of Help the Children.

A list of locations in the Santa Clarita Valley can be found at www.hrblock.com or by calling 1-800-HRBLOCK (1-800-472-5625). For more information about the programs and services that Help the Children provides, visit www.helpthechildren.org.
