Arm Wrestling Champion To Take Youth Project "Over The Top"

Charity event lets people try to take down Jerry Cadorette.

Sponsored By:

SCVi Charter School

Saturday night, Route 66 restaurant in Canyon Country might look more like a scene from the Sylvester Stallone flick “Over The Top” than a fundraiser. But, it will be a little of both as the SCV Youth Project will host a fundraiser where locals can test their strength and get a shot at arm wrestling World Champion Jerry Cadorette.

Furthermore, anyone who actually beats him will win $2,000 and a lifetime of bragging rights.

But nothing comes easy, as registrants will have to battle each other in their respective weight classes before top contenders are crowned.

The Santa Clarita Valley Youth Project has been successfully providing services to teens on six local high schools for eight years and has recently expanded onto five junior high campuses.

In 2007, the Youth Project assisted more than 2000 youth in the Santa Clarita Valley with serious life challenges, including depression, suicide, grief/loss, peer pressure and drug/alcohol abuse, said Kim Goldman, executive director.

“We are honored to be the beneficiary of this fun filled event and encourage kids and their families to come out for the afternoon, and challenge the champ!” said Goldman.

The event will take place on Saturday, December 13th. Registration and weigh-in begins at 9:00 a.m. and the arm wrestling tournament starts at 1:00 p.m. Registration will run $25 per adult, $5 for youth.

At 3:00 p.m., the auction closes to “Challenge the Champ.”
