Former Champions To Play In AT&T Champions Classic

Defending champion and two-time event winner Tom Kite heads the list of former champions who are among the early entries for the 18th annual AT&T Champions Classic golf tournament March 12-18 at Valencia Country Club. 

Kite, a 5-shot winner over Gil Morgan in 2006, is one of four men in this year’s field to have won the PGA Tour’s Champions Tour event on this 6,940-yard, par 72 course, which is considered one of the most difficult on the tour.

On Saturday night, the Kings lost to the Phoenix Coyotes 3-2.  Our next Kings broadcast will be on Saturday at 6:30pm, when the Kings will take on the Edmonton Oilers.

Highway 14 To Close At Agua Dulce

The California Department of Transportation will close the southbound Antelope Valley Freeway (Route 14) from Escondido Canyon Road to Agua Dulce Canyon Road on Sunday, January 21, from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Northbound Route 14 will be closed from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Detours will be posted.

The closure is in relation to a slope stabilization project above Route 14 between Soledad Canyon Road and Escondido Canyon Road. The $12.6 million project involves cutting back the slope and installing retention systems using cable net or wire mesh.

Chamber Announces Winners of Business Of The Year

Last night, the Chamber of Commerce got down to business. They announced the three winners of Business of the Year, and they also put a new Chairman of the Board into place. 

Businesses were rated on their size, with three businesses receiving top honors. The winners are:

Small Business of the Year: Plumbing By Kirk

Medium Business of the Year: Lexus of Valencia

Large Business of the Year: The Signal


In addition, they awarded an Individual Special Achievement Award to KHTS owner Carl Goldman.


Fire Dept To Conduct Drill With United Nations

Los Angeles County Fire Department Urban Search and Rescue Team will undergo an evaluation of our team’s ability to mobilize, deploy, and operate in a manner consistent with the United Nations International Search and Rescue criteria.

Amputees To Find Support

Individuals age 18 and older who have had an amputation (e.g., a limb loss or absence of any part of an extremity, arm or leg, due to surgical or traumatic amputation or congenital disorder) will soon be able to receive resources, information, and support through a newly-formed Amputee Support Group at Henry Mayo NewhallMemorial Hospital 

The group’s first meeting will take place on Thursday, March 1, 2007, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., in the hospital’s ARU Dining Room, located in the Nursing Pavilion at 25727 McBean Parkway, Valencia, CA 91355.
