ImageAfter a private meeting in Los Angeles with former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Assemblyman Cameron Smyth, R-Santa Clarita, announced that he will be endorsing Giuliani in his bid for the 2008 Presidency of the United States.

Two Events Celebrate Classic Book

Science Fiction comes to life around the Big Read.

Get ready for two big events coming to Santa Clarita.

 

On April 15th from 6:00-7:00, Fahrenheit 451 author Ray Bradbury will be at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex to speak about his writings. All are welcome to attend.

 

Also, on Saturday, April 21st from 12:00pm to 7:00, a full schedule of events related to Fahrenheit 451 will take over the Santa Clarita Community Center.  

 

From 12-1pm, the Canyon Theatre Guild will perform scenes from Fahrenheit 451.

Chairman of Parks, Recreation & Community Services Commission Declares Candidacy.

ImageLaurie Ender, Chairman of the Parks, Recreation & Community Services Commission – announced today that she will run for a seat on the Santa Clarita City Council in April 2008.  Ender declared her candidacy to a large group of supporters during a press conference this afternoon at Valencia Heritage Park.

ImageStarting today and going through Sunday, some fierce competition is expected as the USTA Pro Circuit $50,000 Challenger kicks into high gear at the Paseo Club in Valencia.

 

It is the second year the event has been in Santa Clarita, and aside from giving fans a thrill, the pros will be battling it out to move up in the world rankings.

 

KHTS Editorial: Bossert's Comments A Mistake

Recently, West Ranch Town Council Member Dave Bossert made a mistake. Carl Goldman, with a KHTS editorial. Bossert, who sits on the annexation committee, called Canyon Country a cesspool of crime in an online blog, after reviewing a few weeks of crime summaries put out by the Sheriff’s. He then concluded, “Santa Clarita residents are eager to annex the Westside communities to get their hands on more revenue to pump into the dilapidated and crime ridden area on the east side of the city.”

 

Honor Band Shows Their Stuff

Sulphur Springs School District showcases musical talent.

ImageLast night, KHTS aired two songs from the Sulphur Springs School District Honor Band.

 

The band, which is composed of some of the best musicians from around the district, played a live concert at the Westfield Valencia Town Center.

 

Newborn Safely Surrendered In SCV

Eighth child surrendered in LA County this year.  

ImageLos Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich announced that a newborn child was surrendered at Henry Mayo Hospital in the Santa Clarita Valley – the eighth Safe Surrender in Los Angeles County in 2007 and the 56th since the program was initiated six years ago.
