Luc Robitaille's Jersey Retired

One of the most famous players in Los Angeles Kings history, Luc Robitaille, had his number 20 retired on January 20th. He was only the fifth player in King’s franchise history to have a number retired.

AT&T Champions Classic Gets Underway

The Champions Tour opened its season in Hawaii over the weekend with the MasterCard Championship in fitting fashion, as the tour’s all-time victory leader, Hale Irwin, notched a five-stroke victory. In garnering his 45th victory, the 61-year-old Irwin shot a 7-under 65 on Sunday to finish with a sparkling 23-under 193 total for the 54-hole event.

Marc Emmer Named To Facilities Foundation Board

      Marc Emmer, immediate past president of the SCV School & Business Alliance, has been named to the board of the Santa Clarita Valley Facilities Foundation. The all-volunteer foundation is a non-profit public benefit corporation founded to provide financial assistance to the William S. Hart Union High School District in locating, acquiring and developing new school sites.

Annexation Talk Continues To Grow Stronger

Last night, for the second meeting in a row the City Council addressed Annexation of Westridge, Stevenson Ranch and Castaic in their opening comments. And in fact, out of those comments, some new proposals were mentioned. Is this destined to just fade away like before? Not Likely.


Waste Diversion Numbers Close To Goal

The California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) has released preliminary waste diversion numbers for 2005, listing Santa Clarita as having a 45% diversion for that year.  Modifications over the next several months could propel Santa Clarita closer to its 50% goal.


            “The unofficial diversion number will be recalculated as more information is found and adjustments are made.  2005 was a big year for the City’s diversion efforts, with the roll out of several new programs and services,” commented Travis Lange, the City’s Environmental Services Manager.
