Antonovich Orders Flags at Half Mast in Honor of Fallen Forest Service Crew

Los Angeles County Mayor Michael D. Antonovich ordered all County flags to fly at half-mast in honor of the U.S. Forest Service firefighters who died battling a wildfire in Riverside County: Mark Loutzenhiser, 43, of Idyllwild; Jason McKay, 27, of Phelan; Jess McLean, 27, of Beaumont; Daniel Hoover-Najera, 20, of San Jacinto; and Pablo Cerda, 23, of Fountain Valley.

SCV Marathon Street Closures Announced

Sunday, November 5, runners of all variety will take to the streets for the Santa Clarita Marathon. For part of one day, runners will have selected streets all to themselves…and should you be unfortunate enough to get caught in the re-direction of traffic, you can get confused and it may take you a lot longer to get to your destination. Luckily, you can plan ahead and avoid the marathon route. The city announced the street closures today, and they are as follows:

Kings Lose 4-3

Wednesday night the Kings lost to the Penguins 4-3. Tune in to KHTS Saturday at 5:30 when the Kings will play the Coyotes.

Lockheed Player of the Week - October 31, 2006

Congratulations, Adam Reyes of Hart High School for being a “Player of the Week”.
Adam Reyes, a Hart senior played a significant role in Hart’s win 22-15.  Reyes put Hart in position to win the game when he intercepted a pass in the end zone in the third quarter, preventing a score.  Reyes later  converted a two-pointer conversion with a run to give the Indians a 22-15 lead.  He then intercepted a pass in the final seconds of the game to ensure the victory.

Heads Up Gets An Optimist(ic) Boost

Heads Up, a non profit Horseback Therapy organization has received a new heater for their staff trailer. The new heater was paid for by the Optimist Club of Santa Clarita, who are also holding a Bowl-A-Thon on February 17th, with proceeds going to Heads Up.

Man Convicted of Attacking Landlord Gets 17 Years

A Saugus man was condemned to spend the next 17 years in state prison Monday when a Santa Clarita Superior Court judge sentenced him on an attempted murder conviction.45-year old Francisco Lozano was convicted of assaulting his landlord with a machete July 23rd.  Get the full story in Tuesday's Signal.
