    Trying to Live the Sweet Life

    The manager of a senior apartment complex, charged with swindling an elderly resident out of $80,000 and spending it on gambling and vehicles, accepted a plea bargain this week, detectives said Friday.

    Basketball Scores For February 18th

    In a game heard Friday night on KHTS, Valencia defeated Arcadia 50-49.  The Vikings advance to the second round of the CIF Division 1-AA Playoffs against Lakewood next Tuesday.  In other basketball action, Hart beat Alhambra 47-38.  The Indians advance to the second round of the CIF Division 1-AA Playoffs next Tuesday as well.  Saugus lost to Don Lugo 80-61, bringing Saugus' season to an end.

    Hundreds Showed up for Vigil

    Hundreds of friends and family stood in the rain Thursday evening, on the fifth anniversary of the horrific crash near Soledad and Sand Canyon roads....

    Alice Renolds, heard often on KHTS advocating safe driving, lost her two sons, Timmy and Danny, in that accident. 


    The parents of Christopher Singer and Robert Leinbach III, victims of another fatal accident years later, also joined in the memorial.

    Racism Discussions Continue at Valencia

    Thursday brought a large presence of news media to Valencia High School, which has been at the forefront of discussions about racism, which has been reported in increasing numbers throughout the valley over the last few months....

    As heard on the Hometown Morning Show, Hart School Board Member Steve Sturgeon and City Councilman (also Assistant Principal at Saugus High and formerly at Valencia High) Frank Ferry reiterated that this is not a new problem in the valley, and it is not necessarily restricted to Valencia High School.

    COC Spanish Language Institute Study Abroad

         College of the Canyons' popular one-week Spanish Language Institute, to be held this July, will include a study abroad element in Central America.  The travel is designed to bring
    relevance and context to what is taught in the classroom.

    Memorial to Take Place Tonight

    On the five-year anniversary of the loss of her two sons, Alice Reynolds, as heard on the Hometown Morning Show, will be conducting a memorial at the crash site near Soledad and Sand Canyon Roads....

    Joining in the vigil will be City Councilman Frank Ferry.  Reynolds' sons were killed in an alcohol-related crash five years ago.


     

    Drivers Cited For Speeding and Lack of Seat Belts

    CHP Officers and Sheriff's Deputies conducted a state-authorized safety belt crackdown Wednesday throughout Santa Clarita on surface streets and freeways...

    Over three dozen people were cited for not buckling up, and others were caught for speeding.  Yet more drivers were discovered without possessing theire driver's licenses.

    In a game heard Wednesday evening on KHTS, Hart defeated Fountain Valley, 61 to 48. The Indians advance to the first round of the CIF Division 1-AA playoffs against Alhambra this Friday. In other basketball action, Canyon lost to Mira Costa, 56 - 67. The Valencia Vikings will play Arcadia in the 1st round of the CIF Division 1-AA this Friday at 7:30PM, and Saugus takes on Don Lugo at home Friday in the first round of the CIF Division 1-A. Playoffs.

    Have a heart and have some fun. Providence Holy Cross Foundation’s thirty-fourth Annual Golf Classic is coming up on March twenty-eighth.


    Judge Kills Himself After Allegations

    Local Judge, Lloyd Jeffrey Wiatt, killed himself at Towsley Canyon Park after being accused by a family member of child molestation....

    Sheriff's Detectives tried to stop him from shooting himself in the head, but were unsuccessful.


    The commotion lasted longer than two hours.
