BREAKING NEWS: Fire Burning In Riverbed Near Valencia High School (UPDATE)

Fire broke out at 3:30pm by Valencia High School. Firefighters contained the fire and quickly put it out.

UPDATE 4:05 PM

At approximately 3:30pm, a brushfire broke out in the riverbed across from Valencia High School.  L.A. County Fire ground crews with the assistance of air units were able to quickly knock down this blaze. No structures were threatened.

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station conducted a D.U.I sobriety checkpoint from 7pm Friday through 3am Saturday morning. The checkpoint was conducted on eastbound Soledad Canyon Rd, east of Golden Oak.

Homeowners Can Now Qualify For Repair Grants

Over $50,000 in Grants Left for Residential Rehabilitation Program

The City of Santa Clarita is encouraging qualifying residents to apply for grants to repair their homes and property through the City’s Residential Rehabilitation Program and Property Rehabilitation Program. 

The programs, which are designed to keep homes and yards habitable and up to community standards, can be used for mobile homes, condominiums, or single family homes.
