Local Seniors Face Low Income And High Rent

Senior housing rent rises 7%, worrying many about their future. 

 

Recently, local senior housing rent went up another 7%.  Faced with the inability to pay more, many seniors are taking a stand, and asking for help. 

 

On July 10th, many seniors gathered at City Hall to make their crisis known at a Council meeting.  Dr. Gene Dorio, a Henry Mayo doctor, and a senior citizen advocate, said that many seniors were waving signs, and some even made testimonies before the council members.  “We expected them to come out full force, and indeed, they did.” 

Old Street Gets New Name

The City of Santa Clarita celebrated the grand opening of “Main Street”.   

 

The roadways have been restriped, new traffic signals and signs have been added, and San Fernando Road has been renamed causing locals to acclimate to a new traffic pattern heading down San Fernando Road, which is now, “Main Street”. 

 

Milan USA Academy Comes To Santa Clarita

AC Milan, one of the most famous and successful soccer clubs in the world, is coming to the City of Santa Clarita’ s Community Center on Saturday, July 14, 2007 to sponsor two local soccer teams.

 

To kickoff the Milan USA Academy Santa Clarita edition, AC Milan will bring the Champions Cup from Italy to be on display for all residents on July 14th, 2007 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
