In week three of Foothill League action Friday night, in a game heard live on KHTS, the Valencia Vikings and Hart Indians tied 21-21.  Hart Senior kicker Johnny MacArthur missed a field goal with five-seconds remaining.  In other action from around the league, the Saugus Centurions took sole possession of first place in the Foothill League with a 70-27 domination over Golden Valley.  Also, the Canyon Cowboys defeated the West Ranch Wildcats, 10-3.

College Sustainable Development Committee to Make Presentation on China

Taking a look at the environmental impact of modernization and the vast economic expansion currently taking place in China, the College of the Canyons Sustainable Development Committee (SDC) will host a special presentation on China and Sustainability from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Wednesday October 31, in Aliso Hall room 108 on the Valencia campus.

October Update On I-5 Roadwork

The following is a released update from the City of Santa Clarita regarding the progress of the ongoing roadwork at the I-5/Magic Mountain area.

The construction of the box culvert is complete. The box culvert is approximately 2,800 linear feet in length by 10 feet in width and is 8 feet deep. This is one of the major accomplishments within the Phase 2 improvements. The box had to be complete prior to beginning realignment work on The Old Road, which will start mid-November.

Fire Crews Thank Residents

The joint command that successfully guided firefighters through the SCV Wildfires has issued a statement thanking Santa Clarita residents.

Cougars Get Another Win

On Saturday night, in a game heard LIVE on KHTS, the College of the Canyons Cougars took care of Alan Hancock, 49-28. Be sure to tune in to AM1220 on November 3rd, when you can hear COC take on L.A. Harbor beginning at 6:30pm.

The Los Angeles Kings beat the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night, by a final score of 4-1.You can catch the next Kings game, Wednesday at 7:00pm, when they will take on the Columbus Blue Jackets LIVE on KHTS.

Haunted Jailhouse & Carnival Is A GO

Captain Anthony La Berge gave the go-ahead for the annual Haunted Jailhouse and Halloween Carnival to be held at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station this Sunday.  Despite some operational challenges this past week, personnel from the station are working hard to ensure the event goes on as planned.

Hart and Valencia knot at 21


In the third week of Foothill league play, the Valencia Vikings and Hart Indians ended up in a 21-21 tie, in a game heard live on KHTS.  Elsewhere in the Foothill league, Saugus beat Golden Valley 70-27, while Canyon beat West Ranch 10-3.

You can hear a re-broadcast of the Canyon – West Ranch game, Saturday at 10:00am on your Hometown Station.

Next Friday night, another pivotal league match-up can be heard on AM1220.  The Saugus Centurions will take on the Canyon Cowboys, beginning with Chalk Talk at 6:30pm.
