    Dodgers Lose in Colorado!

    The Dodgers fell to the Colorado Rockies Saturday in game 2 of a 3 game series in Denver. The Final was 8 - 6. The Dodgers once again go head to head with the Rockies on Sunday at 11:30 AM. Catch all the action on Santa Clarita's Hometown Station for Dodgers Baseball, AM-1220 KHTS.

    An Exchange of Minds

    Ten lucky Saugus High School students will hop into a plane headed for China next summer. There is one catch: They must speak fluent Mandarin.


     As part of a new exchange program that will ferry five Chinese students to Saugus in the fall, the addition of Mandarin to the school’s language lineup will prepare the 10 for their journey to the East. Fifty-seven students have signed up for the elective class.

    AYSO Fall Season Sign-Ups

    Wine Tasting Event Supports COC Library

    SANTA CLARITA - A wine tasting event, sponsored by Wine Savor and benefiting the College of the Canyons Library, will be held in the colleges' bucolic, outdoor Cougar Den facility beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 14.  The College of the Canyons Foundation Library Associates are the hosts of the event that will feature international wines. This popular event is returning to the college after a 2-year hiatus. Tickets are $50 for Members and $60 for non-members.  Attendees must be at least 21 years of age to participate.

    Women Artists of the West Art Exhibition at Hart Park

    Women Artists of the West (WAOW, pronounced “wow”) will hold its fourth annual art exhibit and sale at Hart Park Hall, William S. Hart Park, Newhall, California, April 28 - May 1, also joining with the City of Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival activities at the Park.

    Nightly from 9 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.:
          -   Two lanes of southbound I-5 from McBean Parkway to Calgrove
    Boulevard

    Overnight, nightly, from 11:59 p.m. to 5 a.m.:
          - Three lanes of southbound I-5 from McBean Parkway to Calgrove
          Boulevard

    Lane Closures Continue for I-5/126 Interchange, 4/25 through 4/29

        Santa Clarita – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close the following lanes of the Golden State Freeway (I-5) and State Route 126 as part of a $24-million project to improve the I-5/126 Interchange, from Monday, April 25 through Friday, April 29:INTERSTATE 5:

    ·     Daily from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.:

    -     One lane of southbound I-5 from Hasley Canyon Road to Rye Canyon Road
    -     One lane of northbound I-5 from Rye Canyon Road to Hasley Canyon Road

    ·     Daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.:

    China Conference Returns

     SANTA CLARITA -- A delegation of five, high-level officials and business leaders have confirmed their travel from China their participation as speakers in the second Doing Business with China Conference to be held May 3 at the Valencia Hyatt. They will join more than a dozen highly authoritative speakers from the United States.        Dena Maloney, Dean of Economic Development at College of the Canyons which is coordinating the one-day conference, says the World Bank estimates by the year 2025, China's economy will account for 25 percent of the total world economy.

    County Departments to Explore Eviction of Sex Offender

    Los Angeles - The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a motion by Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich directing County Departments to explore how to evict a registered sex offender from county housing located directly across the street from a Santa Clarita Valley day-care center and K-5 private school, and close to several other schools and parks.
