City Giving Computers Away

The City of Santa Clarita will give away pre-owned computers to qualifying organizations


The City of Santa Clarita is encouraging local schools and non-profits to submit requests to the City for computers. The City will donate approximately 50 pre-owned Dell computers to qualifying organizations between November and February 2008.


Computers will be available on a first come, first served basis until gone.


Providence Provides Free Services For Local Health Center

A champagne reception was held to honor Providence Holy Cross Medical Center’s partnership with SCV based Health Center

Last night, November 1st, both Providence Holy Cross and Samuel Dixon Family Health Center officials gathered for a champagne reception, recognizing the hospital’s partnership with the local health center. 


Providence offered free laboratory and diagnostic imaging services, amounting to tens of thousands of dollars, for patients of the Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers in Val Verde, Canyon Country and Newhall.


Firefighters Prepping For Santa Ana Winds

Crews will be on call this weekend

In anticipation of forecasted Santa Ana winds, the Forest Service is reserving additional firefighting resources to respond to new fire starts. These resources include more than 111 engines, 14 air tankers, and 8 helitankers.

Exciting Santa Clarita football games come your way this weekend AM 1220 KHTS.  Tonight the Foothill League leading Saugus Centurions take on the defending State Champion Canyon Cowboys at 6:30pm live on KHTS.  The Centurions are looking for their first victory in the series since 2001.  The West Ranch Wildcats look for their first win in Foothill League action against the Valencia Vikings on Friday night.  The game will be aired on Saturday at 10am.  The Golden Valley Grizzlies will take on the Hart Indians as well.

Dodgers Sign Torre

Former Yankee manager to replace Little.


The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed former Yankee skipper Joe Torre to a three-year contract. The deal is worth an estimated $14.5 million.  Torre is expected to bring former Yankee coaches Don Mattingly and Larry Bowa to Los Angeles as well.


Trash Strike Is Over

Waste Management drivers agree to contract

The Teamsters Local 396 have now approved a new five year contract with Waste Management.


The union, consisting of trash truck drivers had been on strike for a week and a half after failing to approve a contract.  


According to Waste Management, the new contract is exactly the same as the one the workers declined before the strike occurred.
