Sobriety Checkpoint Nets One Arrest

591 vehicles screened Friday evening

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station conducted a D.U.I. sobriety checkpoint on Friday, November 16, from 7pm to 3am Saturday morning. The checkpoint was conducted on northbound Sierra Highway, north of Dolan Way

There were a total of 591 vehicles that passed through the checkpoint. All of the vehicles were screened. Two (2) vehicles were pulled off the line where the drivers received further testing. One (1) of those drivers was arrested for D.U.I. (at the checkpoint)

Norman Keating charged with grand theft


ImageNorman Keating, the owner of Xpresstoon Maps, was arrested Tuesday and charged with 18 felony counts of grand theft, including credit card theft and check fraud. The arrest came after a six-month investigation of Keating’s company by the sheriff’s Commercial Crimes unit.
