    Beijing Technology Official to Speak at Local Conference

          SANTA CLARITA--The section chief and vice-researcher of the China Technology Market Management and Promotion Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology in Bejing has accepted an invitation to speak at the 2005 Expanding Business with China Conference to be held at the Valencia Hyatt, May 3.        Lei Qingxi will speak on "Technology: A Bridge to Cooperation," during one of the morning plenary sessions.

    Controlled Burns Cancelled Today In Castaic

    Mike McCormack, Public Information Officer for the Los Angeles County Fire Department informed KHTS radio that today's controlled burn has been cancelled due to yesterday's rain storm. The burn is part of a weekly fire exercise at the Peter Pitchess Honor Ranch. Stay tuned to AM-1220, KHTS for rescheduling information.

    Former Cop Pleads Guilty to Online Fraud

    Castaic resident Sean McCarthy Frank, a former Glendale police officer, pleaded no contest to auction fraud...

    Frank sold items on eBay, creating false accounts to bid on his own items.  He is expected to be sentenced May 9th and faces up to three years of probation.

    L.A. County Fire Conducting Controlled Burns Throughout the Week

    Training Burns are taking place throughout this week by the Los Angeles County Fire Department at the Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic.

    Fire Crews Train in the Field

    As officials gear up for another busy fire season after the rains, the Los Angeles County Fire Department conducted training with drills and controlled burns Wednesday....

    According to Inspector Mike McCormick, heard on Thursday mornings at 8:40 a.m. on KHTS, the Los Angeles County Fire Department continues its live fire training this week with "camp crews" that consist of 14 firefighters with different tools to fend off the flames.


    Residents should not be alarmed if they see or smell smoke, as the fires are controlled.
