On Tuesday Night, the Santa Clarita Planning Commission passed phase one and two of the expansion plan that would bring many new stores and restaurants into our town.

Charo Chicken will take its place

The Wendy’s fast food restaurant in Canyon Country has closed its doors after a somewhat brief run in the new Shangri La shopping center on Soledad Canyon Road.


In its place will come a Charo Chicken, which will be the first of its kind in Canyon Country. Presently, one Charo Chicken is already open in Santa Clarita, in the Valencia area.

House Passes Bill To Clean Up Local Sites

Last week, the House of Representatives passed a bill that will grant $1 million towards the Santa Clara River and the former Whitaker Bermite site. 



For over five years, Senator Howard “Buck” McKeon has been working with the federal government to ensure the restoration of both the Santa Clara River and the Whitaker Bermite site. 


Red Light Cameras A Source Of Confusion

Many don’t know how the system really works

Many KHTS listeners have emailed or called in asking specifically how red light cameras work. With several camera laden intersections already in full operation throughout Santa Clarita and more on the way, now is a good time to get to the basics of how the system works, and who gets the tickets.


Colleen Murphy works with the Sheriff’s department and the City of Santa Clarita to personally oversee the red light cameras from a room where the footage is constantly streamed in.

Open Space Gets Official Kick Off

3 Suspects Wanted For Bank Robbery

"Wig and Vault Bandits"

ImageAt least three Suspects are currently wanted by the FBI for armed bank robberies that occurred over the last two years.

The first bank robbery was on 7/22/05 at 9:40 am at the Bank of America in Lancaster.

The second was on 7/10/07 at 9:39 am at the Bank of the West in Glendale.
