Physical Education teachers at Sierra Vista Jr. High are fed up. They came to an agreement that the routine instruction that has defined PE for decades is outdated and not inclusive.

Main Water Line Break in Sand Canyon

At 11:30am this morning a main water line broke and disrupted water service to the Sand Canyon area.


A representative of the Santa Clarita Water Company stated water service would be off for approximately 4-6 hours.  Water service should be back on-line by 6:00pm.

Big Name To Help Develop COC Culinary Program

Presidential Chef Stirs Up New Culinary Arts Program at College of the Canyons.

On his first day on the job as chef at the White House staff mess, a fine dining restaurant in the West Wing that serves the president, first lady and senior staff members, Chef Louis Eguaras was asked to see President Bill Clinton in the oval office.

            “He wanted to meet me and welcome me on board,” said Eguaras. “I remember he said something funny but I forget what it was because I was just so excited to be there.”

SCV Jobs Winner Picks Up Check

Business says money will be donated to charity.

Book Drive For Children With Cancer

All collected books will go to patients.

ImageMarch 30th through April 1st, the William S. Hart Baseball Spring Classic will be held at the Hart Pony Baseball fields in Valencia. During the tournament, the Santa Clarita Bulldogs; an 8 and under team, will be sponsoring a book drive that will benefit the Michael Hoefflin Foundation.


Free Colorectal Cancer Screenings

Screenings to be Provided by HMNMH.

Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital will be distributing free Colorectal Cancer screening packets from 9 a.m.5 p.m., March 19-23, 2007. The kits will be available at the hospital information desk and two other locations including the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center, 22900 Market Street in Newhall, and the KHTS Radio kiosk, located at the Westfield Valencia Town Center near the west entrance to the food court. Complete instructions will be provided with the kits.

ImageBeautiful weather was a fine backdrop for Santa Clarita’s first Major League Soccer game. The Columbus Crew took on the Los Angeles Galaxy in a pre season game, where proceeds went to the Michael Hoefflin Foundation.


Runner Fights For Veterans' Education

Runner wants in-state tuition fees for veterans.  Senator George Runner (R-Antelope Valley) introduced legislation that will allow all veterans returning from active duty, regardless of their state residency, to pay in-state tuition at one of California’s public colleges or universities. 


Heads Get Shaved, Money Gets Raised

Fundraiser brings many to Agua Dulce.

ImageSaturday afternoon, Agua Dulce was the place to be, as the Los Angeles Fire Department hosted a fundraiser for the St. Baldricks Foundation.


The main event was a series of ongoing head shavings, where teams of people garnered sponsorships to take all their hair off. The money goes to find a cure for children’s cancer.
