    Senator George Runner (R-Antelope Valley) and Assemblywoman Sharon Runner (R-Antelope Valley) sent a letter to Governor Schwarzenegger on Monday regarding a NASA contract to develop a crew exploration vehicle is expected to exceed $6.5 billion and could bring thousands of jobs to Southern California.

    City Sued Over Las Lomas Plan

    Palmer Investments says that Santa Clarita hasn't complied with its duties to prepare an Environmental Impact Report.  The firm wants to build a mini-city at the junction of the 5 & 14 freeways. 

    The lawsuit was filed Thursday against the City of Santa Clarita, seeking to hold the city to previous court decisions, according to a spokeswoman.

    Santa Clarita Idol - Week Two

    Despite sweltering temperatures, the crowd gathered at Panera Bread on McBean Pkwy, for the 2nd show in as many weeks. In search of the Santa Clarita Idol, local radio station KHTS began hyping the show early in the day, inviting would-be singers to enter the competition. There were eight contenders, and like last week, all but one were female. The spectrum was broad, ranging from middle school students to prominent local professionals.

    McKeon Subcommittee Approves Higher Education Bill

    WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. House Subcommittee on 21st Century Competitiveness today approved a bill to reform and strengthen federal student aid and higher education programs, adding stronger protections for students on college campuses and refocusing the law back to its original mission by expanding college access for low- and middle-income students.  The full Education & the Workforce Committee is expected to consider the bill, the College Access & Opportunity Act (H.R. 609), next week.
