    Southbound I-5 Overnight Closure Near Sylmar

    The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close the following lanes, ramps and connectors of the Golden State Freeway (I-5) as part of a $41.6-million project to construct High Occupancy Vehicle, (HOV), or carpool lanes, on southbound I-5 from State Route 118 to State Route 14:


     

    Big Rigs Collide on the 5 freeway

    Two big rigs collided early Tuesday morning on the 5 freeway in Castaic, causing minor injuries to one driver & spilling floor tiles across lanes, creating major traffic problems.

    Southbound lanes 3 & 4 were closed for nearly five hours, following the crash which took place about 3:10am.

    Forest Service to Own Ridge Route

    The federal agency says it'll be responsible for making repairs to the historic highway...

    A seesaw battle over ownership of the historic Ridge Route has swung in favor of the county, which handed more than 17 miles of the road north of Templin Highway to the U.S. Forest Service.

    COC Dedicates Fine Arts Building

    A new $7 million addition to the performing arts facility was officially dedicated on Tuesday by College of the Canyons Dean Michael McMahan....

    McMahan had previously said that the Music and Dance Building would open "about the time pigs fly," but obviously was proved wrong.


    The building is part of the complete Performing Arts Center which opened last October.

    Man Killed in Truck Accident Identified

    Deadly collision on the I-5 closed all lanes during the Friday evening rush hour.

    A man who was killed in the accident was identified Monday as Los Angeles resident Pedro Cristobal.  However, officials would not release the identity of the 8-year-old boy who was injured in the crash.

    Edwards Site for Shuttle Landing

    The Mojave Desert-area Air Force Base was the site for this morning's space shuttle Discovery landing...

    The shuttle broke into the Earth's atmosphere this morning about 5:06 with a loud sonic boom that startled many Santa Clarita Valley residents, touching down perfectly on the Edwards runway..
