A California State University, Northridge grad student announced the completion of a master’s thesis on the memorialization of the Santa Clarita Valley’s St. Francis Dam Disaster of 1928.

Ann Stansell, of Los Angeles, an anthropology and public archaeology student, spent three years compiling her work, which has had a notable impact on Santa Clarita Valley history, according to a history official.

Six Riders Complete 36-Hour Colossus Marathon At Magic Mountain

Six of the 24 riders who participated in the 36-hour Colossus marathon at Six Flags Magic Mountain completed the marathon Tuesday night, park officials announced.

The marathon gave selected participants the chance to ride the coaster in 45-minute intervals for 36 hours, beginning at 9 a.m. Monday and ending 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Pasadena School District Sues Acton-Agua Dulce Over Charter Schools

Pasadena school district officials, following the lead of a Santa Clarita Valley school district, is suing the Acton Agua Dulce Unified School District over charter school approvals, Pasadena Unified officials said Wednesday. “We want to make sure that families considering enrolling their children at SCALE Academy know that the school is being sued,” said Scott Phelps, PUSD school board president. “There is a real possibility that SCALE Academy will be shut down by the court for illegally operating outside of AADUSD and within Pasadena Unified boundaries.” The school flatly denied any wrongdoing in a statement from Lawrence Wynder, director for SCALE Academy.
