CLWA Names New Valencia Water Company Board

Pending the closing of their $58 million deal to buy the Valencia Water Co., Castaic Lake Water Agency officials named five people to the board that will operate the VWC, said Dan Masnada, general manager for the CLWA.

"The closing (of the deal) is (Friday)," Masnada said. "The check has effectively been cut and the money will be delivered."

Special Council Meeting Thursday On Chloride Fine

The Santa Clarita City Council will hold an unusual Thursday afternoon meeting for the sole purpose of discussing a regional agency’s threat to levy a $280,250 fine that would have to be paid by Santa Clarita Valley homeowners.

Last month the L.A. County Regional Water Quality Control Board notified the SCV Sanitation District of its intent to levy the fine because the sanitation district had failed to file certain paperwork related to the construction of a chloride treatment facility.

Hart Boys Basketball Team Needs OT Against Culver City To Stay Undefeated

The Hart boys basketball team was pushed to the limits against Culver City, but won, 82-78 in overtime.

The Indians won their 10th game in a row and remained undefeated to start the season.

Lewis Stallworth led Hart in scoring with 17 points and Myles Franklin added 15 on a poor shooting night for both players. Stallworth was 6-for-16 from the field and Franklin made only 5 of 13 shots.
