Hart Boys Basketball Team Begins Holiday Classic By Blowing Out Burbank

The Hart boys basketball team opened the Holiday Classic tournament with an 81-50 rout over Burbank in the first round of pool play.

Lewis Stallworth led the Indians with 15 points. Four players from Hart scored in double figures. Myles Franklin had 13.

The Indians led 37-32 at halftime and outscored Burbank, 25-8, in the third quarter to take a 22-point lead.

Hart improved to 12-0 to start the season. The Indians play Reseda in the second round of pool play tonight.

Santa Clarita Valley home prices were flat in November as the resale price of the typical, previously owned home averaged $360,000 and the typical condominium sold for $197,000, according to Wednesday’s data from the Southland Regional Association of Realtors.

SCV Rotary International Gives To Local Charity

Dave Reeves of Reeves Automotive, a representative for the SCV Rotary International, recently gave back to Family Promise in support of its effort to help families who are struggling to get back on their feet.

"They do a lot in the Santa Clarita Valley to help homeless people, and it's a great organization," Reeves said. Reeves said the group will be giving to different groups throughout the year to try and help as many local residents in need as possible.

The endowment will be given out to local charities on a bimonthly basis, according to Reeves.

Thirty Bowman High School students attended the Valley Industry Association’s Connecting to Success conference in November, along with students from other Hart District high schools.

The field trip was an opportunity for students to interact with community and business leaders and to learn about the skills needed for successful employment.

Students engaged in small group discussions about financial literacy, ethics, and interview techniques that employers look for when hiring.
