At a recent press conference hailing his heroics in saving a neighbor from her burning home, Newark, NJ Mayor Cory Booker was pictured holding a DVD set called “Fire Is…”. These now famous DVDs were conceived by Dr. Frank Field, a retired reporter and meteorologist, to help combat fire ignorance.     Residents of the Gulf Coast are busy preparing as Tropical Storm Isaac churns toward them; it’s expected to become a Category 1 hurricane—and hit land—Tuesday.     UPDATED: Power Outages Lingering In Canyon Country

    UPDATED: 4:15 p.m.

    Now more than 280 customers are without power due to equipment failues, after SoCal Edison officials had that figure down to about 40.

    Further equipment failures developed while technicians were trying to fix the remaining outages, which were located off of White Canyon Road, near Nadal Street.

    The Southern Californa Edison equipment failure that occurred Sunday night initially left more than 1,100 customers without power Monday, according to utility officials.

    Some Streets To Close Sunday For Marathon

     

    CITY OF SANTA CLARITA -- The City of Santa Clarita and Parkway Motorcars will host the 2012 Santa Clarita Marathon on Sunday, November 4, 2012, and the public can expect minor delays and rolling road and parking lot closures periodically from 2:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to accommodate for the 2012 Santa Clarita Marathon.  Detours will be provided for major road closures.
