Suspects Caught In Washington State; Wanted For Shooting Deputy In El Monte

At approximately 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11, suspects Darnell and Tania Washington were detained in King County located near Seattle, Wash. The suspects are wanted for the attempted murder of a Temple Sheriff’s Deputy that occurred on Sunday, Sept. 2.

The suspects were found driving a stolen vehicle by King County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies went in pursuit of the vehicle which terminated in a traffic collision. The suspects were detained and positively identified as the two wanted in the Los Angeles County and San Bernardino County area.

Sheriff Warns Of Scams On the Rise In SCV

As part of the Santa Clarita Valley Station’s aggressive public outreach campaign that is being used to keep the public informed of crime and crime rates in our patrol areas, the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station wants to make you aware of a number of scams that are becoming more prevalent in the Santa Clarita Valley. This is part one of a series of informational broadcasts intended to raise awareness in order to help you from becoming a victim of a scam. Besides the standard, “winning sweepstakes” type of scams, here are two other scams you should be aware of.

SCV’s Violent Crime Rate Up 32% In 2012

Violent crime in the Santa Clarita Valley has increased 32.2 percent so far in 2012 compared to last year, according to data Wednesday from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

That’s the third-fastest rate of growth among the sheriff’s 23 reporting areas. Only Cerritos (up 46.5 percent) and Carson (32.5 percent) have seen bigger spikes this year.

Deputies Investigate Fatal Friday Night Motorcycle Crash

 Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and members of the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene of a solo motorcycle collision Friday at approximately 6 p.m.

The collision took place on Alta Knoll Drive, just south of Elder Creek Drive in the Saugus area of Santa Clarita.
