FINAL: Buck, Rogers To Square Off For 25th Congressional Seat

    By Leon Worden / SCVNews.com

If the congressional race worked the same way as the supervisorial race, Rep. Howard “Buck” McKeon would be all done campaigning in 2012 because he captured just over 50 percent of the vote Tuesday night: 50.2 percent, to be precise.

But it doesn’t work that way.

Under California’s new “top two” primary election system – just as he would have done under the old system – he’ll face his Democratic challenger in a November runoff.

With 99.92 percent of precincts reporting, Lacey leads with 31.95 percent of the vote.

Deputy District Attorney Alan Jackson, head of Cooley's major crimes division, took  second place with 23.69 percent.

Final Four On Horizon For SCV's County Supervisor

    By Leon Worden / SCVNews.com

Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich sailed to an easy victory Tuesday night with a 79.35-percent margin of victory over his politically unknown rival, Palmdale store owner Raj Pal Kahlon. And yet, measured in government time, wholesale change is right around the corner for the board.

    By Leon Worden / SCVNews.com

The bond money will upgrade the Canyon Springs, Leona Cox, Mitchell, Fair Oaks Ranch, Sulphur Springs, Valley View, Golden Oak and Mint Canyon elementary school campuses and will modernize a regional annex on the Valley View campus that serves severely handicapped and medically fragile students throughout the valley.

FINAL: Knight First, Cig Tax Fails, Central Committees Contentious

    By Leon Worden / SCVNews.com

Tuesday’s contest to succeed the retiring Sharon Runner in a newly redrawn 21st Senate District is really just a prelude. With only two candidates, the race will be decided in November when the two square off.

Palmdale Republican Steve Knight – son of late Sen. Pete Knight and an assemblyman in his own right – finished first with 68.6 percent of the vote in the heavily conservative district. The remaining 31.4 percent went to Democrat Star Moffatt.
