Students Get Unique Opportunities At Discovering Careers Expo

COCStudents in Santa Clarita Valley junior high schools are probably thinking about what they want to do after high school…and ultimately when they grow up.

Parents can help nurture those dreams by bringing them to the fifth annual Discovering Careers Expo from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 28 at College of the Canyons. There, students will be able to talk with people from a variety of career areas and get some hands-on experience to explore different jobs.

FirstHOME assists eligible, low and moderate income families in purchasing their first home and is made possible through grant funding provided by the California Department of Housing and Community Development.

Runner Reacts To Five-Day Delay In Tax Freedom Day

George_RunnerBoard of Equalization Member George Runner today responded to an announcement by the Tax Foundation that California won't reach Tax Freedom Day until April 20th this year, a full five days later than last year and three days later than the average state.

Hart Swim Teams Win Inaugural Santa Clarita Valley Inviational

khts_sportsThe Hart boys and girls swim  teams won the inaugural Santa Clarita Valley Invitational meet at the Aquatics Center, with impressive performances by Nicole Antoniuk and Mitch Johnson.

The Hart girls won six events. Antoniuk won two of them, the 200-yard individual medley and the 500 freestyle. The Hart girls won the meet with 470 points. Saugus was second at 355.
