    Metrolink Lot Expands, Adding Parking And Open Spaces

    Finding a parking space just got a little easier for commuters who board the train in Newhall.

    With the help of a $950,000 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant, 96 parking spaces have been added to the parking lot behind the Metrolink station on the corner of Market Street and Railroad Avenue.

    COC Softball Team Sweeps Glendale College

    khts_sportsThe College of the Canyons softball team swept a doubleheader with Glendale College. The Cougars won the first game, 6-2, and the nightcap, 8-7.

    Jenny Wunderlich had two hits and scored twice in the first game for COC.

    Adriana Correra drove in the winning run with a double in the sixth inning for COC in the second game.

    COC improved to 9-2 in the Western State Conference and is 3-0 against second-place Glendale College.

    On this day she was promoting nascent federal legislation (that she influenced) called the Big Cats and Public Safety Protection Act 2012 which would stop the breeding of big cats across the United States.

    Long had worked at the popular café since its opening a few years ago and was a favorite of many customers. His friends and co-workers talked about his impromptu singing and the uncanny way he knew his customers – even if he never met them before.

    Shakespeare's Macbeth Goes Steampunk: Actors Wanted

    SCSF_Circle_SmallerThe Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival is holding auditions for their summer production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, produced by David Stears and directed by award-winning director Mark McQuown.  The vision for the production is post-apocalyptic, pre-industrial era, or steampunk.

    Auditions are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 28.  All roles are available.  Casting is race- and gender-blind; all parts are non-equity.
