Drug Dealer Taken Off Streets Of Tesoro

khts_crime_generic Detectives looking for Jacob Rico found more than they bargained for Thursday morning when they knocked on his door in the 24000 block of Joshua Drive in the Tesoro del Valle tract.

Rico, 18, was wanted for suspicion of furnishing narcotics to a minor and having sex with a minor under the age of 18. He was arrested when he answered the door. Also at the home was another young adult and four minors who were not in school due to spring break.

Pair Traveling The Highway Arrested For Transporting Pot

khts_crime Deputies driving southbound on the I-5 freeway near Highway 138 pulled over a vehicle around 11 a.m. and discovered a large amount of marijuana in the car.

According to Lt. Mark Hershey of the Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s station, a search of the car yielded 42 pounds of marijuana.

California Traffic Deaths At Lowest Rate Since 1944

Cal_trans_logo In 2010, traffic fatalities in California declined to their lowest level since 1944, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. From a peak of 5,504 in 1987, fatalities fell to 2,715 in 2010.

Success can be attributed in part to safety improvements Caltrans made on highways statewide along with safety programs such as Slow for the Cone Zone and Safe Routes to Schools.

Foothill League Will Remain In Division I For Baseball

The Foothill League lost its appeal to play in the CIF Southern Section Division I in baseball. In a unanimous vote, the Southern Section Council will recommend the six baseball teams in the Foothill League remain in Division I.

State officials contend they couldn’t see clearly enough, so they wrote up the Rio Vista Water Treatment Plant for having cloudy water.

But not a single customer tasted a thing.

Castaic Lake Water Agency General Manager Dan Masnada said that the violation happened when the water was turned back on after the plant was down two months for regularly scheduled maintenance.
