CalArts Publishes Essayist Esther McCoy Work

McCoy_Cover_copyCalifornia Institute of the Arts is pleased to announce the first publication under East of Borneo Books, an imprint of their online contemporary art magazine, East of Borneo. Titled Piecing Together Los Angeles: An Esther McCoy Reader, and compiled by Aperture editor Susan Morgan, the book provides an extensive sampling of the work of Esther McCoy, famous essayist and architect of the 20th Century.

City Council Tells Residents To Take A Hike

Take_a_hikeSanta Clarita Mayor Laurie Ender told residents at City Hall to take a hike. In fact, the entire city council and staff would like the citizens to take a hike.

And to make it easier they’ve launched a new website hikesantaclarita.com.

“We’ve been asked by members of the public. I know you have this land. How do I get to it? Where does this trail go? Where do I find things? This will now be the universal answer to all of those questions,” said Ender.

Time To Shine Exhibit On Display At Mall For Autism Awareness Month

SCAAN_logo_copyIt’s Time To Shine for artists with autism at the Westfield Valencia Town Center Mall.

The artwork of those with autism will be on display throughout April, Autism Awareness Month, at the mall starting today. The Time To Shine exhibit opened with the Light It Up Blue event at the Patios on Monday.

Maria Gutierrez, one of the organizers of the Time To Shine art exhibit, said this is an opportunity to display the artwork of all artists on the autism spectrum.

Sobriety Checkpoint Set For Tonight In SCV

DUIcheckpointLASDA DUI Checkpoint will be conducted tonight in the Santa Clarita Valley area from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday.

 

The goal of the checkpoint is to educate the community on the hazards of drunk driving while enforcing the D.U.I. laws of the State of California.

 

Man Found Dead In Newhall

khts_crime_genericHomicide investigators are on the scene in Newhall where a man was found dead by a woman walking her dog.

Lt. Mark Hershey of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station said that the woman made the discovery around 7:45 a.m. in the neighborhood near Newhall Avenue and 16th Street.
