SCV Fishing Report April 10th: Local Lakes And Saltwater Report

Halibut Hal here with this weeks KHTS fishing report.  The weather was awesome and the fishing.............

Freshwater Report:
1)  Castaic Lake....It's spawning mode as the largemouth bass move into the 2 foot to 15 foot depth of shallow water.
Also try the Lagoon in the shallows.  There continues to be good catfishin' in the 80 foot depth by the buoy line.

Canyon, West Ranch Tracks Teams Set For Foothill League Meet

khts_sportsThe Canyon and West Ranch track and field teams, fresh off the Arcadia Invitational, have a Foothill League dual meet today.

West Ranch’s Ashley Welker is coming off a top-10 performance in the 800 at the Arcadia Invitational. She was eighth in the invitational race. The West Ranch girls 1,600 sprint medley relay team was third in the seeded race.

Hicken Leaves Bank Of Santa Clarita

The Bank of Santa Clarita announced the sudden departure Monday of its founding president, James D. Hicken.

The bank made the announcement in a brief statement that came after the end of the business day. Bank officials could not be reached after hours for comment.

Double Stabbing Leads To Single Arrest For Attempted Murder

double_stabbingOnly one man has been charged in what was initially reported as a double-stabbing at a home in the 28800 block of Loretta Lane in Canyon Country. Raymundo Soto, 35, faces two felony counts of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon for an incident which occurred on February 29.

Goodbye Summer, Winter May Be Back By Wednesday

Severe_Weather_watchAfter a very warm Easter weekend, two storms are expected to hit Southern California this week, bringing rain, winds and possibly snow in the mountains.

The National Weather Service is reporting that the first storm will bring rain to the Central Coast and move into the Los Angeles area Tuesday night.


National Drug Take-Back Day Set April 28

drugdropoff-smallIn another effort to keep expired or unwanted drugs out of the wrong hands and especially the water system (when people flush them down the toilet), the Drug Enforcement Administration has scheduled another National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28.

College Of The Canyons To Host Star Party May 4

telescopesThe College of the Canyons Canyon Country campus will host its bi-annual Star Party this May, with all community members invited to visit the campus and view the stars — along with Saturn, the moon and Mars.

The spring semester Star Party will take place from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Friday, May 4, in the Canyon Country campus’ Carl A. Rasmussen Amphitheater. Admission is free of charge and open to the public.
