UPDATED: One In Custody After Missing Hiker Located

Deputies and Search and Rescue Volunteers spent most of the night looking for Castaic resident Ivy Degeorge, who had been reported missing after leaving a pair of friends hiking in the Sloan Canyon area, but she was found safe and sound at a friend’s home Wednesday morning.

Not so good for one of her hiking buddies, though, because he’s behind bars.

Dick Clark Dies At 82

dick-clarkLegendary television producer and host of "American Bandstand" Dick Clark died after suffering a "massive heart attack" at a Santa Monica hospital, according to his representative. He was 82.

Clark had been at St. John's Hospital where he suffered the heart attack after an outpatient medical procedure, according to his publicist.

 

Probation Violator Arrested, Sawed-Off Shotgun Seized

khts_crimeDeputies arrested a Saugus man during a probation check Wednesday morning and removed a sawed-off shotgun from the premises.

Lt. Mark Hershey said that, at 9:45 a.m., the Community Intervention Team conducting the check took Christopher Schienle, 43, a convicted felon, into custody at the Garzota Drive location because he was in violation of his probation.

Runner Pushes For Veteran Designation On Driver Licenses

Caltrans To Replace Pavement Near Vista Del Lago, Closures Listed

khts_caltransCaltrans plans to close multiple lanes of the Golden State Freeway (I-5) in north Los Angeles County as part of a $100.1 million pavement improvement project between Vista Del Lago Road and the Kern County line.

 

Motorists should expect multiple simultaneous closures in different locations within the limits listed. Closures will be signed well in advance.

Saugus Softball Team Takes Over First Place In Foothill League

Saugus beat Valencia, 3-1, and improved to 3-0 in the Foothill League standings. The Vikings lost for the first time in league play.

Karlee Bickford delivered the big blow for Saugus with a three-run double in the sixth inning.

Wendy Cardinali hit a solo home run for Valencia’s only run.
