Hometown Recipes: Erin’s Gluten Free Belgian Chocolate Brownies

You might be wondering why I am giving you a gluten free recipe this week after all this time, well, it’s because I am gluten intolerant. I did not know what had been causing me to have painful stomach aches all of my life until about nine years ago, when a process of elimination diet showed that gluten was the culprit. I have since found out that this is something that runs on my dad’s side of the family, too bad I didn’t know that when I was a little kid!

Valencia Volleyball Team Sweeps Hart, Wins Third Straight League Match

khts_sportsThe Valencia boys volleyball team is cruising through the Foothill League once again.

The Vikings swept Hart in three games, winning the third game, 27-25. Eric Ensing led Valencia with 21 kills and teammate Austin Csiszar had nine.

Hart’s Tanner Tengberg had 13 kills and two aces.

Valencia improved to 3-0 against Foothill League teams.

Six Local Schools Recognized By State As Distinguished

The list was revealed by State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson.

The Santa Clarita Valley School Food Services Agency hosted Ms. Ketterl's fourth grade class Thursday at the central kitchen in Valencia where the students worked together in teams to prepare an Earth Science themed lunch.

Valencia Fire Captain Wins IHRA Drag Racing Event

Ahten_Dragster_smallNewhall’s Johnny Ahten won the IHRA Pro Fuel Dragster final at the Nitro Jam drag races at Southwestern International Raceway in Arizona over the weekend.

Ahten, the captain at Fire Station 76 in Valencia, won his second Ironman trophy in his fourth career IHRA Nitro Jam start. He beat Bill Evans in the final round.

Saugus Joins West Ranch, Hart Atop Foothill League Baseball Standings

Saugus stunned West Ranch with a 6-4 win and created a three-way tie for first place in the Foothill League standings after five games.

Saugus second baseman Austin Rodriguez drove in two runs and starter Justin Donatella, pictured at right, gave up two runs in six innings.
