Alleged Drunk Driver Flips Off Deputy While Speeding By

If you’re going to be allegedly drinking and driving, cutting in and out of traffic down Highway 14 and then nearly rear-ending an unmarked deputy vehicle -- don’t flip the deputy off as you pass by.

Sylmar resident Carlos Ruano, driving a Ford F-150, apparently did all of that around 8 a.m. according the California Highway Patrol.

COC Trustees Approve $35 Million For Modernization Projects

COClogoAt it’s regular meeting Wednesday night, the College of the Canyons Board of Trustees approved $35 million for modernization projects, using a second wave of Measure M bond money.

“This is the step we have to take to move forward and issue more of our Measure M money,” explained Eric Harnish, Assistant to Chancellor Dianne Van Hook. Voters approved Measure M in 2006, which provides up to $160 million in local bond money for college construction projects.
