Smyth To Introduce Legislation To Stabilize Pensions And Retirement Plans

CamSmythAssemblyman Cameron Smyth announced today that he will be introducing two pieces of legislation aimed at reducing California’s future pension obligations and providing a sustainable plan to provide fair public retirement benefits.   Smyth’s package, which will be introduced this week, mirrors the proposal that Governor Jerry Brown sent to the legislature in October.

Single Family Home Prices Increase, Condo Prices Sink

Single-family home prices inched up in January after two months at the bottom of a 9-year cycle, while condominium prices in the Santa Clarita Valley sank to depths not seen since July 2002.

The typical SCV home changed hands for $360,000 in January, up 5.9 percent from December and 4 percent higher than January 2011′s median price of $346,000.

Caltrans Announces Closures For I-5 HOV Improvement Project

khts_caltransThe California Department of Transportation(Caltrans) plans to close the lanes, ramps and connectors listed below as part of a $140 million improvement project to construct High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV or carpool) lanes and a direct HOV lane connector at the
I-5/SR-170 interchange.

Ramp closures will be staggered. Closures are subject to change. Detours will be signed.

West Ranch Advances To Quarterfinals Of CIF Boys Basketball Playoffs

khts_sportsEverything seems to be in favor of the West Ranch boys basketball team. The Wildcats ousted Edison, the eighth-seeded team in the CIF Southern Section Division 1A playoffs, 101-65, to advance to the quarterfinals.

Ninth-seeded West Ranch plays top-seeded Mission Viejo at home on Friday night. It will be a tough game against Mission Viejo, but at least West Ranch has home-court advantage.
