    Sierra Highway Crash Results In Major Injuries

    A head-on collision on Sierra Highway in the unincorporated Santa Clarita Valley has sent two people to Antelope Valley Hospital.

    A white Honda passenger car collided with another white sedan at approximately 1:19 p.m. in the 36200 block of Sierra Highway, just north of the Halfway House Cafe.

    Officer Christian Cracraft of the California Highway Patrol said major injuries were sustained in the crash.

    City Gets A Silver For Being Green

Santa Clarita is one of only four cities to be honored by California Green Communities for its efforts.

    DUI Checkpoint In Newhall Comes Up Dry

    Nobody was arrested for driving under the influence at a Friday night DUI and driver’s license checkpoint in Newhall.

    A total of 953 vehicles were screened at the checkpoint, which ran from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Lyons Avenue and Wheeler Road.

    The result wasn’t terribly abnormal; usually just one or two arrests are made per 1,000 vehicles at local DUI checkpoints, which are funded by the state office of traffic safety.

    Motorcyclist Killed On San Francisquito Canyon Road

    A 24-year-old man from Leona Valley was killed Saturday morning when he lost control of his motorcycle on San Francisquito Canyon Road.

    Officer Monica Posada of the California Highway Patrol identified the victim as Leonard Rohaley II.
