Nobody was arrested for driving under the influence at a Friday night DUI and driver’s license checkpoint in Newhall.
A total of 953 vehicles were screened at the checkpoint, which ran from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Lyons Avenue and Wheeler Road.
The result wasn’t terribly abnormal; usually just one or two arrests are made per 1,000 vehicles at local DUI checkpoints, which are funded by the state office of traffic safety.

The City of Santa Clarita will be recognized by representatives of the California Green Communities, an environmental recognition program, at the Tuesday, February 28, 2012 City Council meeting for achieving “silver” status as a result of the city’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
