Four Petty Thieves Cooling Heels Behind Bars Thanks To Quick Deputies

khts_crimeFour men are in custody after one of them grabbed a woman’s purse in the Trader Joe’s parking lot this afternoon.

The woman was confronted by a Hispanic man around 2:15 p.m., when he forcibly took the woman’s purse and jumped into a beige Saturn sedan and fled the location with three other men in the car.

UPDATED: Fatal Collision On Lake Hughes Road

The California Highway Patrol is reporting that one person has died as a result of a collision north of Castaic on Lake Hughes Road near mile marker 19.04.

The victim of the crash, who was driving a silver Honda sedan, was identified as Tyler Matthew Lynch, 20, of Leona Valley.

Sudden Storm Causes Grapevine Closure, Could Bring Snow To Low Levels

Weather-WatchNumerous showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to continue across Los Angeles County into the evening Monday, bringing brief heavy downpours, gusty wind and accumulating hail.

This storm is predicted to drift northeast, bringing with it snowfalls as low as 2,000 feet. The low snow levels will likely impact portions of I-5 from north of Castaic to the Grapevine.

West Ranch Boys, Canyon Girls Eliminated From CIF Basketball Playoffs

khts_sportsIt was a rough weekend for the basketball teams from the Santa Clarita Valley.

The West Ranch boys, Canyon girls and College of the Canyons women were all eliminated from the playoffs.

The West Ranch boys, making their deepest playoff run in school history, lost to top-seeded Mission Viejo, 81-77, in overtime in the Southern Section Division 1A quarterfinals.

Ako Kaluna scored 27 points and Kevin Harris scored 21 points for West Ranch.
