Not Guilty Plea By Alleged Pedophile Downs

Michael_Downs_mugNot guilty.

That was the plea from alleged pedophile 19-year-old Michael Downs of Valencia.

According to officials at the San Fernando Superior Court, Downs made his plea at his arraignment this morning shortly before being scheduled for a preliminary hearing setting on March 5.

Downs is facing 34 felony sex related charges and one misdemeanor count involving 15 minor female victims.

Woman Killed In Friday Crash Still Not Identified

khts_ambulanceA 65-year old woman died Friday night when she was walking in the roadway on Orchard Village Road in Newhall.

The identity of the victim, who is a Caucasian, has not been released because her next of kin has not yet been found.

Deputy Jeff Maag of the Traffic Bureau at the Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s station said that the woman may have been a local resident at one time, but that is one of the facts being researched.

Caltrans Freeway Closures For Carpool Lane Construction Project

khts_caltransThe California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) plans to close the lanes, ramps and connector listed below as part of a $140 million improvement project to construct High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV or carpool) lanes and a direct HOV lane connector at the
I-5/SR-170 interchange. Ramp closures will be staggered.

Closures are subject to change. Detours will be signed.

Auditions Open For Palmdale Playhouse Production About Triangle Factory Fire

TriangleProjectThe Palmdale Playhouse will hold open auditions for the upcoming Enhanced Readers Theatre “The Triangle Factory Fire Project” this Friday, Feb. 10 at 6 pm, and Saturday, Feb. 11 at 10 am at the Palmdale Playhouse, 38334 10th Street East in Palmdale.

Roles are available for five men and four females each playing multiple parts. Performers should be prepared to read sides from the scripts, which will be provided at the audition.
