    Former COC Football Standout Selected To NFL Pro Bowl

    khts_sportsFor the first time ever, the College of the Canyons has an NFL Pro Bowler.

    New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, who played for the COC football team, was selected to the NFC Pro Bowl team. He and teammate, quarterback Eli Manning, will represent the Giants in the Pro Bowl in Hawaii.

    Rose Society To Host Free Instructional Seminar

    rosesThe Santa Clarita Valley Rose Society is hosting their 18th annual free Rose Care Seminar on Sunday, January 8 at 2:30 p.m. at the SCV Senior Center in Newhall.

    The seminar will feature Master Rosarians Bob Belendez, Kitty Belendez and Steve Jones, who will demonstrate how to properly prune various types of roses.

    Suspect On Loose After Disabling Stolen Car

    tc122611aA suspect is on the loose in Newhall after rendering his stolen car undriveable Monday morning at in Newhall.

    The suspect is identified only as a Hispanic male of average height and weight, about 5-foot-6 and 150 pounds, age unknown.

     

    Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Fees Increase Jan. 1

    county_clerk_logoLos Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean Logan recently gave public notice that effective Jan. 1, 2012, the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk will implement a $2.00 fee increase for certified copies of birth and death records. 

    Fees for certified copies of birth records will increase from $19.00 to $21.00 and $12.00 to $14.00 for death records.
