Canyon Girls Basketball Team Opens With Win In Fresno Tournament

khts_sportsThe Canyon and Valencia girls basketball teams are off to impressive starts in a couple of tournaments.

The Canyon girls beat Clovis East, 76-32, in the first round of the Nike Central Valley Showdown in Fresno.

Jaya Schultz led three players from Canyon in double figures. She had 25 points. Tiffini Stone scored 19 and Alia McCoy had 13.

December 1 2011: Kings Beat Panthers 2-1

It was a good night for the Kings as they held off a fast Panthers team and increase their winning streak to 2 games. The Kings got on the board first within the first two minutes of the game with a goal by Jack Johnson in the 1st period. Dustin Brown scored a goal in the 2nd period putting the Kings up by two goals. The Panthers also scored a goal in the 2nd period but were unable score anymore goals due to the Kings good penalty kill and a great performance by King's goalie Jonathan Quick in which he had 47 saves in the game. The final score was 2-1.

Update: Hart High Football Team Penalized For Breaking CIF Rule

Six Hart High School football players are facing sanctions for following a youth coach to the high school program, a violation of CIF rules and bylaws.

Five freshman and a sophomore who transferred to Hart will not be able to play at the varsity level next season for violating the CIF rules. The sophomore will have to sit out four games because he is not eligible to play at the junior varsity level. All the players will not be eligible to play on the varsity team for the first four games of next season.

Opera Singer Vocalizes Thanks For Pyramid Rescue

pyramidwindrescuetwoParks Bureau Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department received a call at 5 p.m. Wednesday from the Assistant Manager at the Pyramid Lake Concessionaire.

She conveyed her fear to the deputies that two men in a 10 foot "Pond Prowler" had not returned and were still on the lake. The winds at this time were 65-70 miles and hour with five foot swells.

'Bridge To Home' Shelter Opens Tonight

Red Flag Warning To Continue Through Friday

A cold low pressure system over Arizona will continue to generate strong north to northeast offshire winds over most of the area through Friday.

The windstorms that began last evening have resulted in widespread damage with the heaviest in the San Gabriel Valley.
