Two Valencia High Grads Earn College Basketball Honors

Valencia High graduate Lonnie Jackson was selected as the ACC rookie of the week. The Boston College freshman scored 26 points and had five rebounds in a 75-55 win over Bryant on Sunday. He made seven 3-pointers in the game.

In a game heard live on KHTS, the Los Angeles Kings took on the Toronto Maple Leafs Monday afternoon. The Kings and Leafs were tied at the end of overtime, and in a shootout, the Kings won the game, 3-2.

Two Suspected Fence Stealers Arrested

khts_crimeTwo men have been taken into custody for allegedly stealing fencing materials from a Vasquez Canyon homeowner Monday afternoon.

According to the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s station, around 1:30 p.m. the homeowner at the 30000 block of Vasquez Canyon Road witnessed two men taking fencing materials from his property and then driving away in their red pickup.

DUI Checkpoint Nets One Locally, Nearly 600 Countywide

drivesoberA sheriff’s deputy sustained a minor injury at a Friday night DUI checkpoint in Valencia that saw one person arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.

Countywide, law enforcement officials arrested 598 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The winter holiday Anti-DUI crackdown has resulted in more DUI arrests than in the same period last year. In 2010, 510 people were arrested on the weekend before Christmas.
