This Saturday, Golden Valley High School will be holding an Electronic Waste Recycling Event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the school parking lot at 27051 Robert C. Lee Pkwy.

Angeles National Forest To Waive Fees For Veteran's Day Weekend

Forest_ServiceVisitors to Angeles National Forest can enjoy a “Fee Free” Veterans Day weekend (Nov. 11-13). For those three days, the normally required National Forest Adventure Pass will be waived.

“In honor of our nation’s veterans, we would like to encourage people to use this fee free weekend to get outdoors and enjoy the wonderful recreations opportunities in the Angeles National Forest,” said Thomas A. Contreras, supervisor of the Angeles.

Canyon Football Team Rallies In Second Half Against Hart

khts_sportsThe Canyon football team is back after a come-from-behind, 42-24, win over Hart. Canyon scored 28 unanswered points in the second half and now has a shot at winning the Foothill League championship.

Hart meanwhile dropped to 2-2 in league and will be fighting for a playoff spot in the league finale on Friday night.

UPDATED: Fire At Former The Greens In Valencia Put Out Within An Hour

Fire has completely gutted the former Gimme Grill sports bar at The Greens in Valencia.

The fire broke out Sunday around 5 p.m. inside the building, which has stood vacant at Valencia Boulevard and McBean Parkway, across the street from the Westfield Valencia Town Center mall and adjacent to the city of Santa Clarita’s bus transfer center.

 

 

UPDATE: COC Student Dies In Sunday Morning Crash On 14 Freeway

A 20-year-old College of the Canyons student died Sunday morning when he lost control of his car in heavy rain on State Route 14 in Agua Dulce.

Brandon P. Silva of Valencia was pronounced dead at the scene of the 7:45 a.m. crash on the southbound side of the freeway just south of Agua Dulce Canyon Road.

SCV Marching Bands, Flag Teams Excel At Rampage At Rampage

An airtight Thousand Oaks High School marching band took home the sweepstakes trophy with a score of 86.35, but it was Hart High’s band that posted the highest point score in Saturday’s 28th annual Rampage field show competition at College of the Canyons while West Ranch took top honors for its auxiliary and percussion sections.

It was another exciting night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The Kings played a great game, keeping the lead in the Third Period, but the Penguins tied with just enough time left, forcing the match into overtime and scoring the game winning goal.
