SCV Fishing Report November 10th: Local Lakes And Saltwater Report

Here's the latest fishing reports from our local lakes:
1)  Castaic Lake....There continues to be flurries of striped bass boiling on the baitfish (shad).  The best bite is in the morning or evening hours.  There's lots of shad all over the lake. Very good largemouth bass fishing in the coves or lagoon.  Try the buoy line, fish arm or coves for catfish and crappie.

Canyon Football Team Takes On Golden Valley In Foothill League Finale

khts_sportsThe Canyon football team can take its first step toward past glory against Golden Valley tonight.

Canyon can claim a share of the Foothill League championship with a win over Golden Valley in the league season finale at Canyon High School.

Canyon is 3-1 and tied for first place in league with Saugus and Valencia. The Centurions and Vikings play on Friday night at College of the Canyons.

Power Back Up In Sand Canyon Area

electricityMore than 3,400 Edison customers lost power Wednesday morning due to high winds in the Sand Canyon area.

According to Edison spokesperson Anna Frutos-Sanchez, at 11:42 a.m. the Sand Canyon substation relayed that 3,403 customers had lost power. The cause may have been the wind causing tree branches in the area to compromise the wires.

City Council Round Up: Shop Local Deal

Don_FlemingSince 2004 the Santa Clarita City Council has contributed to a public/private partnership with the Santa Clarita Automobile Dealers Association  (SCADA) for a shop local advertising campaign.

This year, and the next three, will be no different as the city council voted to kick in $60,000 to the partnership.

Don Fleming, President of SCADA, said he’s proud of the city council and they have a great partnership.

New Traffic Grant To Fund Increased Safety

DUIcheckpointLASDSanta Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station has been awarded a new traffic safety grant for a year-long program aimed at preventing deaths and injuries on our roadways.

The $155, 525 grant awarded by the Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to Santa Clarita will aid in the city’s ongoing effort to improve traffic safety and the quality of life.
