Sulphur Springs, Saugus Candidates Talk Election

SulphurS-News-sidebarIn the November 8 election, parent and school volunteer Priscilla Lofton is challenging incumbents for a seat on the Sulphur Springs School District Board, where there hasn’t been an election in eight years.

 

In a candidate’s forum on KHTS, hosted by Joe Messina, Lofton said that while she is a champion of the students, she does like some things the current board has done:

Shattered Windows Left After Vandalism Spree On Soledad Canyon Road

khts_crimeCanyon Country was the location for a random shooting spree overnight Thursday.

Lt. Joe Efflandt said that between the hours of 10 p.m. Thursday and 3 a.m. Friday morning, deputies have responded to or received reports of at least 15 windows broken because of projectiles apparently fired from Soledad Canyon Road.

“It looks like someone was driving along and shooting randomly,” he said.

Employment Figures Continue To Improve Locally

Santa Clarita’s employment picture continued to improve in September as the local jobless rate fell to 7.6 percent from 7.8 percent in August and 8.2 percent in July.
